Please complete new patient forms through the link sent by OrthoFi. Be sure to add any dental insurance so that if there is an orthodontic benefit, we can provide you with accurate financial information if treatment is recommended.
The consultation will begin by taking digital images with a camera and often times an iTero scanner. The iTero scanner provides an outcome simulator to show predictive outcomes to those with permanent teeth. Sometimes we might recommend taking a panoramic radiograph to review primary teeth and permanent teeth eruption/angulation.
Dr. Phelan will evaluate tooth eruption, bite discrepancy, spacing and crowding, hygiene, and facial imbalances.
How To Begin Treatment:
After your consultation, Dr. Phelan will either recommend orthodontic treatment for you, or in younger patients, who still need more permanent teeth, he might recommend checking them again 4-6 months later. We call these “observation check ups”, we do not charge for these appointments, and they allow us to evaluate any dental/skeletal changes since the last visit.
Whenever treatment is recommended, the next appointments will be discussed and financial information will be given through OrthoFi. The first step in beginning treatment is taking diagnostic records (photos, x-rays, digital scans). Diagnostic records are usually scheduled at a different day and time, and typically, the contract and financial arrangements are complete online prior to this appointment.
Occasionally, we will meet someone who may not be a candidate for orthodontic treatment due to tissue and gum health.
